Responding to victory’s sweet beckon, the Warren County Pork Choppers exited “the big slab” and showed up in full force to the 18th Annual Decatur Jaycess Riverfest in mid-September. The team fired up the smoker and competed against nearly 80 other teams in the battle for the number one position. Warren County Pork Choppers kicked some serious BBQ “butt” and received top calls in Brisket and Pork, ushering the team to the Reserve Champion’s stand and a beautiful Kingsford® $40K Challenge win!
Warren County Pork Choppers has been cooking competitively with Kingsford® for nearly three and a half years, but Pitmaster Donny Bray has been a Kingsford® cook for nearly 20 years now, and notes his love for grilling steaks with the famous charcoal as it “starts faster and burns longer.” On the competitive scene, Kingsford® has helped the Warren County Pork Choppers perfect their high scoring Brisket turn-ins, and in the case of the 18th Annual Decatur Jaycees Riverfest competition, secured a Reserve Champion win to Jiggy Piggy for the second time.
