From the North to the South and the East to the West, The Sam’s Club® National BBQ Tour Championship welcomed some of the top teams from around the country to the Sam’s Club® Headquarters in Bentonville, Ark. for a BBQ battle of epic proportions. At the end of the day, as with any competition, only one team would get the Grand Champion call, and with this competition being one of the Kingsford®$40K Challenge competitions, the stakes were sprinkled with bonus cash up for grabs.
Lucky’s Q, a powerhouse BBQ team from Iowa, made their Sam’s Club® National BBQ Tour Championship Grand Champion status more than just a win… they made it a Kingsford® $40K Challenge win! Justin McGlaun, Lucky’s Q lead Pitmaster, has leaned on Kingsford® charcoal for the past three years the team has been competing, and with this win under their belt, they certainly plan on keeping the Kingsford® fire going.
“Whether I’m grilling or slow-smoking, Kingsford performs great either way,” said McGlaun. “Plus, it works well with the equipment I use for competitions. It’s just consistent!”
Typically, Lucky’s Q “wows” the judges with their expertly prepared brisket turn-ins, but as the 2012 season has wound down, it’s their chicken that has been receiving the highest praise.
