With only three contests left in the 2009 season, the Team of the Year race looks like it will go to the bitter end. Pellet Envy has held the lead for several months, yet, after a win in Talladega, I Smell Smoke started to gain ground rapidly. With less than twenty points between the two teams, it became apparent to everyone the next few contests could change everything. Barbeque forums around the web began to come alive with talk of the TOY chase going on at KCBS.
This past weekend, the race took on a whole new edge. Iowa’s Smokey D’s took the GC at the 3rd Annual Sun City Festival in Buckeye, Arizona. This win brought them flying past both teams to take the lead in the TOY standings.
This weekend the Plant City Pig Jam will be the only contest being held. Will all three teams make an appearance? Will there be another new leader in our race? I guess we’ll all be sitting on the edge of our seats waiting to see. Go to www.kcbs.us for the latest in contest results and Team of the Year Standings. All results will be calculated on Monday, November 23rd no later then 10:00 a.m.
