KCBS News Feed2010 Great American BBQ Tour Schedule Announced
February 5, 2010 Of the thousands of barbeque competitions and festivals across the country, only 25 are selected for the Kansas City Barbeque Society's Great American BBQ Tour. And this year, we're proud to announce 11 new stops on the cross-country excursion that has enjoyed growing success as it enters its third year."The Great American BBQ Tour has seen tremendous success in its first two years, and we're thrilled to continue the program into 2010," said Carolyn Wells, executive director of KCBS. "The Tour provides us with an opportunity to see even more barbeque enthusiasts as we spread the word about ‘America's Cuisine.' Thanks to our national partners (KC Masterpiece, Kingsford, Master of Mixes, SCOTT and Weber Seasonings), the Tour will hit venues that will total more than 3 million attendees."
Many state barbeque championships remain on the tour schedule, as do traditional competitions like the American Royal and Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational. The new tour stops range from the large (Wisconsin State Fair) to the more intimate (Murphysboro Barbecue Cook-off in Murphysboro, Ill.).
