ABOUT KCBS
Tour Team Transition
May 20, 2008 Have you been keeping up with the notes on The Great American BBQ Tour? If so, you know that KCBS has been front and center at 5 great events so far, and that our tour team (Ernie & Linda Poland) have been spreading a lot of good will and information to BBQ fans throughout the nation. We have sampled thousands of tasty morsels from our tour sponsors, handed out hundreds of membership applications, and have demonstrated the difference between true BBQ (low and slow) and backyard grilling (hot and fast) to countless fans from California to Tennessee.
It’s been quite an experience for the Polands, who came out of retirement to embark on this journey. They have survived spring storms, nearby fires, falling signs and even whipping winds as they’ve logged almost 15,000 miles so far!
Our next stop is the St. Louis Rib America festival, where we embark on a new development in the tour. Due to health concerns and a desire to embrace retirement again, the Polands will be working side by side with a new KCBS demo team from Springfield, MO.
Mike and Chris Peters, who have been competing professionally for six years now, have signed on to drive the Great American BBQ Tour the rest of the way. They will be supporting and learning the ropes from the Polands in St. Louis, where both teams will focus on making the transition a smooth and easy one.
So if you happen to see the teams in the near future, we hope you’ll pat Ernie and Linda on the back for a job well done on our first leg of the journey! And join us in welcoming and encouraging the Peters as they embark on their new journey to spread the KCBS story!
This is an exciting time for KCBS and our many enthusiasts! Now more than ever, our society is fulfilling its mission to promote BBQ as America’s cuisine, and we hope you will support and join us along the way!
