Las Vegas Regional a Blazing Success!

April 30, 2014

The heat was most definitely on in Las Vegas as 30 of Region Four’s top teams battled it out for one of ten hopeful spots in the National Final for the Sam’s Club National BBQ Tour. The competition line-up was a fierce one, packed with teams who’ve long held a competitive presence in the barbeque circuit as well as teams who’ve been quick to jump on the competition learning curve. Regardless of experience, one thing is for sure: when you know ‘que, you know ‘que.

A big congratulation is owed to Rhythm ‘N Que, who took home the Grand Champion call for the day, with an overall score of 685.7140. Though they didn’t receive a category first place call, Rhythm ‘N Que placed in the top ten for Ribs, Pork and Brisket, proving their overall barbeque skillset and giving them the points they needed to move to the top of the competition.

From California, Harry Soo of Slap Yo’ Daddy BBQ wrangled in the Reserve Grand Champion call for the day, with an overall score of 681.0856. Slap Yo’ Daddy earned a second place call in Brisket and a third place call in Chicken. Lake House BBQ smoked 90% of the competition, taking the third place call for the day with a score of 677.0740.

The battle for the remaining seven spots to represent Region 4 at the National was a tough one. Fourth, fifth and sixth place – Lucky 13, Jo-Bawb’s BBQ and Loot N’Booty BBQ – were separated by a mere .606 of a point. Seventh, eighth and ninth place – Smokin Hot Butts BBQ, Big B’s Down-N-Dirty BBQ and Son of Smoke – were separated by just .5944! Talk about tough competition! In tenth place, Bad Bones BBQ claimed the region’s last spot in Bentonville. Congratulations to each of the teams who have qualified!

One region down, four more to go and it’s off to the National Final in Bentonville!
