WORLD FOOD CHAMPIONSHIP SEEKING SANCTIONING FOR BARBEQUE PORTION OF CONTEST.
The IOTeam Marketing Committee does not have a January Board Meeting Report. The Lohman's are in Tyrol, Italy for the Winter Extreme South Tyrol (W.E.S.T) BBQ Contest in the Southern Alps. Two organizers will be attending this contest to discuss potential new contests in Italy and Czech Republic. Results of our meetings, and other news will be reported in the February Board Meeting Report.
Randy Bigler: The Sanctioning Committee is myself, Fred Kilgore, Alan Osmer, Wes Burden, Carol Bigler, Karrin Murphy, Carolyn Wells and Mark Simmons.
In 2014, the committee worked on projects with our biggest accomplishment being the sanctioning of backyard contests BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2015.
I contacted Organizers to let them know that KCBS was interested in how their contest turned out and offer and help. There were tens of thousands of dollars raised for dozens of different charities at these contest.
We also reviewed and updated organizer materials and forms for 2014.
Continuing projects are:
Sam’s Clubs Interference
Other food event/sanctioning fees
CBJ Committee Report:
Don Harwell: For the year 2014:
93 Certified Barbeque Judging (CBJ) classes were taught in 2014.
From these classes, 3272 people have received certification from KCBS to be Barbeque Judges.
Also, within these classes, we had 2519 of these people becoming new KCBS members.
KCBS has also had 28 Certified Table Captain (CTC) Classes with a total of 394 students.
I would like to thank the CBJ Committee for all that has taken place in 2014.
This committee is comprised of all CBJ instructors, Ed Hartman, Dave Compton and Sammye Phelps.
The members of this committee have had great input in each of our monthly meetings and provided guidance to the Board of Directors.
I again want to thank the KCBS office and Sammye Phelps for all the hard work in 2014 to make my role and monthly reports easier.
The following 2014 goals for the CBJ Committee were completed:
ü Update the Organizers Handbook for people who are interested in hosting a CBJ class
ü Update PowerPoint for CBJ Class
ü Update PowerPoint for CTC Class
ü Update CBJ Manual to match the PowerPoint presentation
ü More information to Judges (E-blast for Judges)
ü Class critiques
ü CBJ Continuing Education program ( 98% completed)
ü Requirements to become and maintain CBJ, MCBJ, CTC and a 100+ CBJ are now published on the Web.
Some other goals have been passed to other committees and are still in the works:
□ Establish a method for signing up for classes online
□ Electronic sign in of Judges going for their Master instead of a sheet signed by Reps.
□ Judges and CTC tracking and feedback sheet
This is a way to go online and view your judging with others at your table and across contest.
ü Class Fees along with Cook payments were updated. Lanyard, CBJ Pins, and Ink Pens are now included in the CBJ class materials to each student.
ü New class invoices for 2014 were created
ü New colors were added to the CBJ shirt with more to continue.
ü Added three new instructors to the pool of instructors.

Candy Weaver: The Education/Communications Committee is Ralph Williams, Betsy Masters, Mike McDearman, Dennis Polson, Richard Preston, Candy Weaver, Mark Simmons and Carolyn Wells.
In 2014, the committee accomplished:
Establish Yahoo group for KCBS event organizers.
Kids' Que Corner in the Bullsheet, listing kids events for two month period covered by that issue of the Bullsheet. Que Tips written for the bottom of the block. Wrote a cover article on same for November 2014 Bullsheet.
Interactive on-line Bullsheet made available through BlueToad.
Reviewed all applications for Grants in Aid and made recommendations to the Philanthropy Committee.
For 2015, it is my opinion as chair of this committee that the "education" component is not effective. CBJ Committee does all CBJ education and other education-type functions are accomplished through other committees. The 2014 accomplishments are all related to communications, but even there the Rep Committee developed a brochure for teams at contests.
The 2015 Communications Committee goals are:
Password protect the interactive Bullsheet. Move to direct KCBS to member communication when the Bullsheet is available on line.
Once the e-mail list is completed above, give KCBS ability to directly send eblast updates to membership as desired, without utilizing MMA time and efforts.
Continue Kids' Que Corner.
Work to streamline kcbs.us in functionality and design.
Assist other committees as required

Philanthropy Committee Report
Dave Compton: This month's report is to announce the biggest changes in Philanthropy that KCBS has ever seen. If everything happens as planned and promised our new electronic Philanthropy page will be up and active on the KCBS website on or before January 15th.
With the click of the button the member will have access to the applications for Grants in Aid and Charitable Grants along with all of the requirements for each. There will also be everything that they need to know about the Gary Wells and Carolyn Wells Award programs, including who can nominate, who is eligible and the applicable dates.
There will no longer be any paper forms or filings for these programs, everything will be done electronically. No more late postmarks or lost letters, when you hit the submit button it's filed.
And now it is possible for members to make tax-deductible donations to the KCBS Foundation and to direct how that gift is used. You will be able to make a donation via PayPal that goes into a separate bank account that is set up for the Foundation.
I want to take this opportunity to thank Raye Keyes and Sybilla Hawkins in the office for their dedication and help in getting everything through the last couple of days when everything was rush, rush, rush. Without their hard work and perseverance none of this would be done on time. Bill Capstack and Dave Edyburn, you deserve another big "Thanks".
As I'm writing this on Tuesday morning, the e-mails are flying getting this up and running by our January 15th deadline. I want to thank everyone again for their hard work bringing this dream to life.
