April 5, 2016

The 9th Annual Smokin’ on Big Creek BBQ and Steak contest was held on April 1-2 at the Cass County Fairgrounds in Pleasant Hill, MO.

The contest is also a fundraiser for Operation BBQ Relief and various other charities in the area. Teams and judges were asked to donate non-perishable goods. Teams were also asked to donate any leftover barbeque meat. Over the course of the contests existence, they have donated thousands of dollars to various charites and hundreds of pounds of meat. Thank you to the teams and judges that donated food.

There were 14 kids that entered in the 5-10 age group and 8 that entered in 11 and up age group. The kids were given Snake River Farms Gourmet Kobe Hog Dogs and they were encouraged to create something unique. A big shout out to all 22 kids that competed! Your entries looked delicious!

You never know what the weather is going to be in Missouri, especially at the beginning of April. While the sun was shining, it was extremely windy for the 72 teams competing. In conjunction with the four meats, teams also had the option of signing up for the Steak Cookoff and the 1-Bite Challenge.
