EB's Bar-B-que Cooking Team was established in 1997, by Earl Pinyon and Brian Elkins. EB was derived from taking the E from Earl and the B from Brian. And it is spelled EB (capital letters and no periods), it is pronounced ebb.
They began competing on the KCBS circuit, starting in Charlotte. After a couple years of competing, the team became certified judges. The team was able to compete some contests and judge others.

In 2005 we opened a restaurant and was not able to compete while we were open for business. After 3 years we closed the business, and was able to start competing again. Even the restaurant won awards, being voted best bbq by Reader's Choice. The restaurant was featured on NC Weekend with Bob Garner, local TV programs, Creative Loafing and other newspaper articles.
