Dead Last BBQ was started 20 years ago as a fund raising effort of a local high school football team. As the name implies, the group had a rocky start actually finishing dead last in more than one competition.
Team memories include attempting to get Presidential Nominee Bob Dole to do a keg stand and the now famous “Salmon” incident.
As these boys became men, their desire to actually be competitive grew into what comprises the team now. In 2007, Dead Last finished at the top of every competition entered and enjoyed two top ten finishes at Lenexa.
These men still live by the motto, "Winners come with cans, Losers come with kegs" but now that is changing too....it seems that sometimes winners come in Dead Last.

Biggest Wins: Two top ten finishes at Lenexa in 2007. But our top would have to be the first ribbon we ever got at Sertoma in Lawrence.
