DISCIPLES OF BLUES AND BBQ

The Disciples of Blues `n` BBQ came from simple beginnings. Three of the original members Frank, Todd and Greg were grilling burgers for a local school fundraiser for approximately 400 hundred hungry folks. After the grills had cooled the three headed down to a local watering hole. After an hour or so of mood modifiers one of the three piped up how much fun it would be to BBQ a pig at a party. The idea grew with enthusiasm and on the Memorial Day Weekend back in the early 2000`s the BBQ idea came to fruition. It was a great success and carried on for a few more years. Neighbors Todd and Jim wanted to carry their BBQ skills further and put their cooking skills up against some of the regions best. One night after a few drinks the idea became a reality. A BBQ team is what was created. Todd contacted Frank and proposed the BBQ idea. Soon thereafter a meeting was set. It was agreed that recruiting members for the BBQ team with the same passion and philosophy was needed. A list of potential candidates? was created. Guys we knew in the neighborhood that might be interested in BBQ competitions. Scott, Ryan and Mark along with Greg, Jim, Todd and Frank formed the original lineup of the Disciples of Blues `n` BBQ. Each member brought a certain level of expertise to the Disciples of Blues `n` BBQ experience! Some would cook, some would prep the meat and prepare it for presentation, others would help with equipment issues, set up and take down equipment, play music or whatever was needed to guarantee a good time for our family, friends and fellow Disciple Brothers.
Over the course of time a few members due to work or moving have left the team?but not in spirit. Due to work Jim`s availability became limited and with much disappointment amongst the team Jim felt he had to step down from his cooking responsibilities. Fortunately, Jim still comes out to our BBQ functions and offers both his moral support and cooking suggestions and expertise. The same is said with Greg, who moved back to his native state of Indiana to be closer to family and friends?rumor has it Greg is spreading the Disciples of Blues `n` BBQ word, by cooking for his family and friends at family functions. In their absence the DOBB have been blessed to have a great following with friends that have stepped in and helped in a pinch. Dave Kupish and Troy Adkins have proved to be invaluable help and support to the Disciples of Blues `n` BBQ cause in the last year and we appreciate them very much!
The experience of cooking for competition, special functions or for family and friends never grows old. We take pride in providing all of you our very best effort and experience as possible?.our motto is has been and will always be; ?we out fun everybody!?
We would like to thank our families, friends and sponsorship for their support and encouragement over the years. Without you none of this would be possible. Long live the Disciples of Blues `n` BBQ!!!
