I am originally from Northern California and slowly migrated up to Oregon where I graduated High School. I served in the US Marine Corps for 4 years where I worked in administration. After serving my country, I enrolled into college to study engineering. I graduated from Texas A&M University with an industrial engineering degree in 2018 and currently work as a military contractor for the US Air Force. In my free time I love to BBQ for my friends play drums for local music acts.
As an official Candidate for the KCBS Board of Directors I want to say that I am thankful for this opportunity. I might not have the dozens of years of experience in every climb and place on the BBQ competition judge circuit, but I do have the charisma and a can-do attitude to get the job done. I am a natural ambassador who can authentically connect with anyone from any culture from any country. I have worked alongside so many ethnicities while serving in the military and attending university courses. I am dependable and want to make this organization the best it can be for the members and the competitors. I want to help spread the word about us even further and increase our membership, make KCBS a household name in BBQ, and create a fun environment for all those involved. Vote Matthew Ernest Ray!
Standardize boxes for competitions and expanding our international presence. The boxes will aid in many ways for both the judges and the competitors. In regard to international competition, there are so many places and cultures that have not been discovered who most likely have wonderful techniques which to show the rest of the world. If we want to truly represent world championship caliber BBQ we need more world championship representation.
I bring contagious enthusiasm, amazing public speaking ability, a myriad of technical skills, and most importantly, an indefatigable devotion to KCBS!
