As the Kansas City Barbeque Society heads into its 37th year, we are looking for devoted and dedicated members to help guide this organization. As the organization grows, so do the needs of members with certain skill sets willing to devote their time and efforts to advance KCBS as the authority on outdoor cooking and barbeque.
This is not a position to just “put in your time” or to add to your resume. This is a commitment to work together with your fellow board members to make a difference. If you have a passion for barbeque, experience in outdoor cooking, event organizing, contest or judging experience, strong computer or IT skills, accounting/financial background, marketing, or legal experience along with a strong desire to serve in a demanding volunteer position, please consider running for election to the KCBS board. Three (3) openings will be filled annually.
Nominations for the KCBS Board of Directors will begin on October 1, 2022 and will close on October 21, 2022. All members of KCBS in good standing are eligible for candidacy. A Director must be a Member of the Corporation in good standing and have been a member of the Corporation for a period of not less than (12) months. Any member may be nominated by another member or by self-nomination. Please provide the name, address, phone number and email address of each nominee being submitted for candidacy. The Nominating Committee will select a slate of candidates from the nominees. Each candidate selected must accept the nomination for his or her name to appear on the ballot. All candidates will be required by the 31st day of October 2022 to provide to the KCBS office a current photograph and their answers to the election questionnaire. This information will be published in the digital BullSheet, on the KCBS website and electronic voting website. The submission may be modified one time following initial publication and changes must be received by December 5th, 2022.
The election voting shall begin January 2, 2023 and continue through January 16, 2023
11:59PM CST. Mail in ballots must be received in the KCBS office by January 15, 2023
12:00PM CST.
The results will be announced on January 18, 2023 on the KCBS website and on social media. The newly elected members shall begin their term at the February KCBS board meeting. All board members are required to serve on Board Committees and be an active member by attending monthly board meetings and participating in KCBS events. All board members are required to sign a Conflicts of Interest Disclosure and a Board of Directors Responsibility Statement and Code of Conduct Policy. Each Board Member is expected to
promote the mission and ideals of KCBS.
