KCBS solicits Board nominations for the 2024 Elections

As the Kansas City Barbeque Society heads into its 38th year, we are looking for devoted and dedicated members to help guide this organization.  As the organization grows, so does our need for members with certain skill sets willing to devote their time and efforts to advance KCBS as the authority on outdoor cooking and barbecue.

The KCBS Board of Directors is not a position to just “put in your time” or to add to your resume. This is a commitment to work together with your fellow board members to make a difference.  If you have a passion for barbecue, experience in outdoor cooking, event organizing, contest or judging experience, strong computer skills or IT skills, accounting/financial background, marketing, or legal experience along with a strong desire to serve in a demanding volunteer position, please consider running for election to the KCBS board.  Three (3) openings will be filled annually.

Nominations for the KCBS Board of Directors will begin on October 1, 2023, and close on October 20, 2023. All members of KCBS in good standing are eligible for candidacy.  A board member must be a member of the Corporation in good standing for a period of not less than (12) months.  Any member may be nominated by another member or by self-nomination. 

Please provide the name, address, phone number, and email address of each nominee being submitted for candidacy.  The Nominating Committee will select a slate of candidates from the nominees.  Each candidate selected must accept the nomination for his or her name to appear on the ballot.  All candidates must provide the KCBS office a current photograph and their answers to the election questionnaire by October 31, 2023.  This information will be published in the Bullsheet, on the KCBS and electronic voting websites.  The submission may be modified one-time following initial publication and changes must be received by December 4th, 2023.

The election voting shall begin December 26, 2023 and continue through January 9, 2024 11:59pm CST. Votes will be cast via the Voting Booth on kcbs.us. 

The results will be announced on January 13, 2024 on the KCBS website, social media and during the KCBS Annual Banquet.  The newly elected members shall begin their term at the February 2024 KCBS Board meeting.  All board members must serve on the Board Committees and be active by attending monthly board meetings and participating in KCBS events.  All Board members are required to sign a Conflicts of Interest Disclosure, a Board of Directors Responsibility Statement and a Code of Conduct Policy.  Each Board member is expected to promote the mission and ideals of KCBS.

Nominations should be submitted using the online KCBS Board of Directors Nomination form. Instructions will be posted on October 1st, 2023.
