KCBS Launches Award and Election Nomination Period
KCBS Headquarters, October 1, 2023 — The Kansas City Barbecue Society is excited to announce the opening of nominations for the KCBS Board of Directors, the Carolyn and Gary Wells Awards, and the Outstanding CBJ Award all of which are announced at the 2024 Annual Awards Banquet on January 13th, 2024 at Harrah’s Casino and Resort in Kansas City, MO. This is your opportunity to help shape the future of KCBS and recognize outstanding individuals within the KCBS community.KCBS Board of Directors Nominations: KCBS is a growing organization, and the Board of Directors plays a pivotal role in guiding its success. If you are a KCBS member in good standing with desire to contribute to our community, we encourage you to nominate yourself or someone you believe is qualified. Three (3) openings will be filled annually.
Nominations for the KCBS Board of Directors will begin on October 1, 2023, and close on October 20, 2023. All members of KCBS in good standing are eligible for candidacy. A board member must be a member in good standing for a period of not less than (12) months. Any member may be nominated by another member or by self-nomination.
The Nominating Committee will select a slate of candidates from the nominees. Each candidate selected must accept the nomination for his or her name to appear on the ballot. All candidates must provide the KCBS office a current photograph and their answers to the election questionnaire by October 31, 2023. Nominations should be submitted using the online KCBS Board of Directors Nomination form, which be found HERE.
The election voting shall begin December 26, 2023 and continue through January 9, 2024 11:59pm CST. Votes will be cast via the Voting Booth on kcbs.us.
The KCBS Annual Awards Banquet celebrates the outstanding contributions of individuals within the barbeque community. We are pleased to announce that nominations are now open for three prestigious awards:
Carolyn Wells Ambassador Award: The recipient of the Carolyn Wells Ambassador Award exhibits the exceptional qualities of a great ambassador for KCBS. This award is given to a KCBS member who displays a high level of good character and who promotes KCBS as an organization to the general public. The nomination form can be found HERE.
Gary Wells Sportsmanship Award: The recipient of the Gary Wells KCBS Sportsmanship Award consistently demonstrates qualities such as fairness, generosity, good character, and strict adherence to the rules of competition, with exceptional instances of good sportsmanship showcased at KCBS barbeque contests. Outstanding CBJ (Certified Barbecue Judge) Awards: The Outstanding KCBS Certified Barbeque Judge Award is a prestigious recognition presented to seasoned and highly respected CBJs by the Kansas City Barbeque Society. This award acknowledges their exceptional expertise, dedication, and contributions to the world of competitive barbeque judging. The nomination form can be found HERE.
