Announcement of Special Election for KCBS Board of Directors

Dear KCBS Members,

We are writing to inform you of a special election to fill a vacancy on the Kansas City Barbeque Society Board of Directors. Randy Todd, a valued member of the KCBS family and a respected leader within our organization, has resigned to address personal matters. We thank Randy for his service and wish him all the best.

This special election will ensure that our Board continues to represent the interests and values of our membership. The successful candidate will serve the remaining two-plus years of Mr. Todd's term.

The desired KCBS and professional experience for this position is outlined below. Please review the information and follow the instructions to nominate yourself or another eligible candidate for the 2026 KCBS Board of Directors Special Election.

Nomination Process
  • Nominations for the KCBS Board of Directors Special Election will be open for a five-day period. The nomination period will begin on Monday, July 20, and close on Sunday, July 26, at 11:59 PM Central Time.
  • All KCBS members in good standing are eligible to be candidates. To serve on the Board of Directors, a member must have been in good standing with the Corporation for at least twelve (12) consecutive months. Members may be nominated by another member or may nominate themselves.
  • All nominees who meet the eligibility requirements are qualified to run.
  • The Chair of the Nominations Committee will present all qualified nominees to the Board.
  • Each nominee must accept the nomination before his or her name will appear on the ballot. In addition, each candidate must submit a biography outlining the skills, experience, and qualifications that make them a strong candidate for this Board position. Candidate biographies will be published on the KCBS website and made available to all members before the election.
  • The newly elected Board member will begin serving at the September 8, 2026, KCBS Board meeting. Board members are expected to serve on Board committees, attend monthly Board meetings, and actively participate in KCBS events. All Board members are required to sign a Conflict-of-Interest Disclosure and a Board of Directors Responsibility Statement. Board members are also requested to sign the KCBS Code of Conduct. Every Board member is expected to support and promote the mission and values of KCBS.

Voting Details

The voting period will begin on Monday, August 10, 2026, and close on Friday, August 24, 2026, at 11:59 PM Central Time. Once the ballot is finalized, members will receive an email containing a link to the online voting system. Please note that members must log in to cast their vote. Only members in good standing with no outstanding invoices are eligible to vote.
